Talence’s GAMMA: A major asset for Décastar and its athletes
On September 6, Bordeaux Métropole, together with the City of Talence, the Agence Nationale du Sport, the Conseil Départemental de la Gironde and the Conseil Régional de Nouvelle-Aquitaine, inaugurated the GAMMA (Groupe d’Arts Martiaux, de Musculation et d’Athlétisme), a sports complex that has already proved an invaluable asset for the Décastar and the athletes who took part in the 2023 edition. The new facility, located in the heart of the Thouars stadium, offers much more than just an indoor training venue: it represents an exceptional opportunity for athletes to prepare in optimal conditions to shine at Décastar.
Decastar training: an undeniable advantage
In the week leading up to the last Décastar and during the meeting, athletes were able to use the GAMMA to finalize their training.
With its 6-lane, 80-meter track, 10-meter-high net for throws, high jump, long jump and pole vault, all housed in a magnificent hall, athletes were able to prepare for each decathlon or heptathlon event in perfect, unprecedented conditions, sheltered from bad weather, noise or any other source of disturbance. Also available during the meeting, the infrastructure offered them an ideal place to recharge their batteries and relax between events.
The 400 m2 weight room was also available to help them build up their strength in the days and hours leading up to the competition.
Opening Ceremony on the GAMMA Track
The opening ceremony of the Décastar, the event’s emblematic and eagerly-awaited moment, was crowned with success thanks to GAMMA. The complex served as a spectacular backdrop, highlighting the elegance and scale of the event. Athletes, partners and volunteers were welcomed into an inspiring environment, reinforcing the image and prestige of Décastar.
